About CMAAC

The Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada was federally incorporated in 1983 with the goal of promoting the profession of TCM and Acupuncture (TCM/A) across Canada. There are eight CMAAC Chapter offices across Canada. In 1987, the CMAAC became a member society of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS). WFAS is the only TCM and Acupuncture Society to be fully recognized by the World Health Organization. Established as a nonprofit charitable association to lobby the government for the regulation of TCM and Acupuncture since its’ inception, the CMAAC has played a vital role in the development and promotion of TCM/A across Canada. The CMAAC has fostered alliances with the provincial and federal levels of government and assists the various Ministries of Health on many projects. The CMAAC has helped with the regulation of TCM/A in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland, and Ontario.

CMAAC Objectives Include:

  • Uniting practitioners of Eastern and Western Medicine,
  • Establishing high standards of education and training for TCM/A practitioners,
  • Promoting TCM and Acupuncture
  • Attending international conferences to participate in the scientific exchange of research
  • Acting as an educational vehicle for the public, and
  • Working in partnership with organizations such as the World Wildlife Federation and the Canadian Health Care Anti-Fraud Association
