September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children ages 5-14 (www.CDC.org).
Watch this 30 minute documentary and get a firsthand look at how hospitals and acupuncturists can work together to improve the quality of life and care for even the youngest cancer patients.

Facing complications from brain surgery and upcoming chemotherapy treatments, neurosurgeon Dr. William Loudon suggests to Max and Cade’s parents that they try something outside the box and introduces them to CHOC hospital acupuncturist Ruth McCarty. Over the next few years, acupuncture not only helps ease the fatigue, nausea, and pain so common in cancer recovery, but helps Cade recover from a devastating stroke he suffered after his second brain surgery.
