TELUS Health & Insurance Companies Meeting June 14/2016

TELUS Health eClaims had a face-to-face meeting on June 14th with the insurance companies who participate in their eClaims solution.
As Chair of the TCM Policy Development & Communications Committee, Jane Cheung spoke to their user group on behalf of CMAAC and TCM/A practitioners.

eClaims allows practitioners to bill insurance companies directly for their patients who have extended health care coverage for acupuncture treatments. There are currently 10 major insurance companies participating, including Sun Life, Great West Life & Manulife.  As healthcare providers, we can submit a claim directly to the insurance company using this website.  Payments can be directed to the patient (if they’ve already paid at your clinic) or to us, the service provider.
For many patients, our ability to direct bill their insurance company (just like a dentist) removes the financial barrier of having to pay for treatments up front, then wait around for reimbursement.

As a group, TCM/A practitioners are one of the slowest groups to start using this online billing service and we wanted to know why?

See below for the responses and feedback to the survey:
